Tool Shop Specialist (draft)

Mission

Support engineering and production activities by interventions on casting tooling.

Job requirements

Education

Vocational training in mechanic design or equivalent.

Experience

1 year experience in production engineering or similar positions in mechanical industry.

Technical Competencies

3D design (CATIA preferable). Valuable:

• production of metallic parts by machining, forging, casting or other technologies.
• Knowledge about Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA,…).

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Provide feedback to tooling suppliers regarding tooling performance and compliance.
2. Support CDE & CPE in solving problems due to tooling design or construction and in the process of tooling improvement.
3. Analyse test results and, together with the core team, propose and execute corrective or improving actions focused on root cause of defects or performance opportunities in a systemic way.
4. Review and implement tooling actions proposed by CDE & CPE.
5. Manage the 3D printing equipment and develop optimized methodologies to use this equipment.
6. Develop activities of preventive and curative maintenance of casting tools, filling the standardized reports to register maintenance activities.
7. Perform tooling approval audits for tools delivered by suppliers.
8. Prepare tooling according production schedule to be ready for production (batch number, check tooling condition, locate in heaters,…).
9. Inform to the Plant Engineering Manager about defects or faults that cannot be repaired with plant resources.
